The entity that is now Walbrook began in 1986, under the banner of Independent Business Finance. As the name suggests it was established as a truly independent brokerage, having no ownership or commercial tie with any agent or outside influence. 20 years on and only the name has changed, we are still the purchasers’ champion and have remained totally independent.

At Walbrook you are dealing with people who have considerable experience, not only in the world of commercial finance, but in running and owning businesses. In Tunbridge Wells we have Hugh Caven, a founding Director who started out in commercial agency, moved into hotel management, then back to agency until 1983 when he joined a commercial finance brokerage. Lindsay Edwards however, is a poacher turned gamekeeper, he joined the company in 1986 having spent the previous seventeen years with specialist commercial lenders building up vast experience in lending to the business sectors.

Alistair Saddler who runs the Edinburgh office, moved straight into the commercial mortgage broking sector from university. Until recently he also owned a thriving town house hotel in the city and certainly knows all the pluses and minuses of this sector.

Over the years we have built up excellent working relationships with a bank of professional associates in the insurance and assurance markets, and in the legal and accountancy professions. We can also boast long standing relationships with our commercial lenders’ chosen valuers. This is what makes the difference in our working relationship with you.
